I don&#8217;t quite know why &#8211; perhaps it&#8217;s the atmosphere of the book, or the sense of mystery that surrounds a dead world &#8211; but I always read &#8216;The Dark is Rising&#8217; at this time of year. I guess it&#8217;s a Christmas tradition.
